‘Catch of the Week’ – Rubbin’ They Titts

This weeks catch comes in again under the collective Moombahton banner, although this time bringing with it slightly deeper tech edge. ‘SaBBo‘ (not to be confused with L.A. based producer and other Moombahton pioneer badman, ‘Sabo‘) has been releasing tunes since 2009, when he dropped his first EP ‘It Is The Time‘, a rather gritty vocal Dancehall/Dubstep affair. The EP featured vocal samples from Jamaican artists recorded whilst he and fellow Israeli producer ‘Kuti‘ lived in Jamaica. Earlier this year the pair released  their ‘Better Days‘ Dub/Reggae album, again feating an array of  Jamaican vocal talent whom they hooked up with whilst in Jamaica, including Turbulence, I-bell, I-Lue & Jah Rightful. One of the deeper tracks ‘Me Nah Mad’ is featured below.

Motown Reggae

I first became aware of Philadelphia’s EMYND after his 2008 release Philly 2 Bmore on Unruly Records, and the tune ‘To All My Haters’ became a staple of my sets for months – although it is one of those rare occasions when, for me at least, the clean version trumped the original; as badass as the jacking Bmore riddim is, I was always uneasy about confronting a dancefloor with 3 minutes of the looping refrain “Fuck you, Fuck you!”  I don’t know, maybe it’s just a British thing.

‘Catch of the Week’ – On The Radio

For this week’s catch we bring you a dose of prime Moombahsoul goodness, courtesy of Chicago beatsmith Tony Mundaca.  I’ve been loving his Footwork productions under the ‘MoonDoctoR’ alias for a while now, and he has really upped his game of late, turning out consistently great tunes in both these (and other!) styles.

‘Catch Of The Week’ – Korak (Matt Shadetek 3Ball NYC Remix)

Ok, a new feature we’re trying to get consistent with here at Dub Bait has just been branded ‘Catch of the Week‘. This is where we’ll be posting a new tune for download each week, either soon-to-be or just released. The chosen track might explore new horizons in electronic sound, be from the other side of the world, make us wanna wine like a dutty girl :/ or just be something the kiddy from next door handed us the other day. As long as we feel it’s worthy of the ‘Catch of the Week’  tile, then we’ll be posting it!
