Bit of a random one for Dub Bait here really, but we stumbled across this video that for some reason seemed oddly brilliant, so decided to share.
The rapping is shouty and gritty, the beat glitchy and futuristic, and the video shamelessly low budget – yet these three elements somehow combine into a lo-fi gem of a viewing+listening experience. Possibly our favourite music video of the year – love the seatbelt on/seatbelt off action for starters!
Death Grips - Guillotine
We don’t know a lot about Death Grips yet to be honest, so if you enjoy this then I’m afraid you’ll have to find out more for yourself. But as a consolation prize for our ignorance we’re going to chuck in two bonus mp3′s.
One of the first things Death Grips reminded us of was the legendary Company Flow, and that meant we had an excuse to fish out 1997′s Funcrusher Plus - a record regularly cited as one of hip-hop’s greatest. If you appreciate skilled heavyweight rhyming and don’t have this in your life, then you’re missing out. Some might say it’s sacrilege to compare the two – here are a couple of tunes off the album to help you make up your own mind.
