Zed Bias – Biasonic Hotsauce: Birth of the Nanocloud

So, big things here from Tru Thoughts as last week as they dropped ‘Biasonic Hotsauce – Birth Of The Nanocloud‘ an inspiring new LP from Zed Bias, otherwise known to many underground heads as Maddslinky.  The Album is a well balanced mix of Garage, Soulful House, Funk, Dancehall, UK Funky & Dubstep and is bound to make even the sickest of producers feel totally inadequate.

Presented as a progressive audio/musical narrative, played out by the  inclusion of four soundscapes that intersect and sandwich the tracks, this release has a very complete and ‘album like’ feel, only to be emphasised by a hot production style that is consistent and tight at every stage of the journey.  The scene soundscapes document a nutty scientist, on his quest to give life to Biasonic Hot Sauce and could be seen lightly as a projection of Zed’s deranged alter ego, or perhaps a reflection of his approach to making music; who knows, but when the scientist’s experiment turns to disaster, the paradox bears no comparison to this stunning piece of real life audio creation.

The album comes fully loaded with features from producers Mark Pritchard, Skream, Falty DL,  and Toddla T, as well as boasting appearances from some of the UK’s finest vocal talents including Jenna G, Dynamite MC, Mighty Moe Serocee and Rosco Trim.

Tracks like Salsa Funk (featured above) give off fresh vibes by hybridising new trend genres like Soca and modern House music, as does Lucid Dreams featuring Falty DL but with Future Funk inspired Garage and soulful House vibes.  The rework of Jazzie B’s Fairplay feat. Jenna G, harks back to by gone days (for me anyhow) of upfront vocal tracks and baggy clothing, but is brought up to date using new fuzzy, funk synth basslines, while Badness featuring Skream (listen below) oozes massive amounts of, well, Skream!

In many ways not all tracks on the album will be to everyones taste but then, we are all a bunch of fussy buggers in these musically affluent times; and I guess we can be with so much great new music around, however this doesn’t in any way detract form the inspiring craftsmanship that’s gone into this release.  Below we feature one more track and its the ‘Zed Bias Old Skool Remix‘ of the album track Fairplay feat. Jenna G. This is out on separate single release including the b-side Phoneline (featuring Rosco Trim) alongside all their respective remixes, edits, instrumentals and acapellas. There’s also a second single Badness feat. Skream and Trouble in the Streets feat. Mark Pritchard – all available now.

If you haven’t copped this outstanding release already then pick it up at either Boomkat, Juno, Etch ShopiTunes or Amazon.  A  swanky vinyl picture disc (as seen below) is available here also. Standard prices are £7.25 for the CD or £5.00 for the mp3 download – very fair prices might we add, for tunes that you will be playing long into the future.
