Our Catch this week comes from a producer who’s quickly gone from popping up on the radar every so often to being a massive, flashing bleeping dot, slap bang in the middle of the radar! Based out of Kiev, Koloah brings a diverse and well crafted arsenal of styles, with tracks ranging from House through to Glitch-Hop via a healthy but unique nod to the current wave of global Bass/Garage/R n’B sounds.
Part of the KievBass family (who among other things have a weekly show on Sub.FM), Koloah has a knack for finding that sweet spot between the deep and the dancefloor-driven, and this hasn’t gone unnoticed with his tracks receiving plays from the likes of HxdB (Tectonic/Brownswood/Palms Out Sounds).
His recent Love EP – released in March on DFRNT‘s Cut imprint – is an absolute must have. Featuring 3 great tracks, it’s a feast of – as Cut themselves put it – “Vocal hooks, solid skipped-up beats and slabs of synth“. Oh, and it’s free! Grab it HERE now.
After all this deepness and glitch however, our Catch Of The Week showcases Koloah’s Footwork production skills. A remix of Point d’Orgue’s ‘Diurne‘, the track hits the ground running with a solid, brooding Juke flow before revealing itself as a warm, soulful stepper, with a catchy vocal hook and an irresistible swirl of keys and drums. It’s actually something he finished a little while ago, but it seems the French act he’s remixed have gone AWOL and he can’t hold onto it any longer. After hitting its soundcloud download limit in a matter of hours, Koloah has kindly let us host the exclusive D/L here. Enjoy!
