For this week’s catch we’ve chosen a track hot off the press from one of our favourite Argentinian production duos, Friksailers. Aside from being slightly insane with a love of neon headgear they possibly have one of the most fascinating sounds at the moment, and with this latest free release that definitely holds true.
The original is offered up by the Rio de Janeiro based, but American born producer, Maga Bo. The Frikstailers remix is promo and part of a larger release that sees an array of artists remixing the entire of Mega Bo’s only very recently released (22nd May) album ‘Quilombo do Futuro‘ on the Post World Industries label. ’Quilombo do Futuro’ (featured below) is a lovely eclectic release fusing a conglomerate of sounds, styles and afro-brazilian rhythms into a sound-system aimed selection of tunes that fuse Coco, Maculelê, Samba, Jongo and Capoeira, Ragga, Dub, Hip Hop, Kuduro and even Grime and Dubstep .
The remix release (again, featured below) progresses the same ideas but is given a modern twist, bringing the sound ever so slightly towards the mainstream with the help of respected producers from the Americas such as Chancha Via Circuito, Uproot Andy, Sabo, Stereotyp, Subatomic Soundsystem and of course the Frikstailers. As great a line up that is, not all the tracks hit the mark to our minds, but there are definitely a tonne of great tunes across the two releases.
Back to the catch in question and the Frikstailers are showing they’re still on top form with their latest remix effort, we’d even perhaps go as far as to say that its the best of the lot. Energetic and yet oozing a chilled rhythmic undertone this multifaceted track has got so much in it we’re amazed at how good it all sounds. The pitched down, automated, triplet, rhythmic bleeps and blips along with the lazers in the second third of the track really do it for us, hope you enjoy too.
