If we had to pick a particular DJ that really stands out as influencing the Dub Bait and Springstan family’s musical tastes throughout the early years, then this guy has to win hands-down! A big man in the game, Dub Boy (Tim Rayner) has always been a strong advocate and facilitator of Caribbean music and his relentless passion for promoting the various genres has played a major part in shaping young peoples love of the music in and around the west country.

Springstan Present: SWINGSTANS’ NYE SPEAKEASY
Get transported to 1920s New York, an era of wild, debauched parties in the face of prohibition. This New Year’s Eve, there’s only one party worth showing your face at. Springstan is taking over Baskerville Hall, a stunning stately home in the Brecon Beacons National Park. This is an exclusive party for only 500 people.

Dub Bait is essentially an ongoing quest to bring forth the best in new music and newly emerging dance music genes. This July 28th our voyage takes us to the Garden Stage at Nozstock for a specially geared late night spot from 11:30pm through to 4:00am, as we explore some of the coolest sounds of our time.

The spring is here again, and over at Dub Bait HQ we’ve been busy prepping for our slot at one of our favourite micro-festivals of the year, the awesome Springstan. It sold out so quickly that we didn’t even get a chance to get it up on here to let you know, but we’re so excited to have been invited back that we just had to shout about the fun that’s gonna go down tomorrow!

With great anticipation we approached the weekend that would bring an inevitable mix of cross-disciplinary arts, music and interactivity. The night was founded upon previous collaborations with ‘Compass’ at both ‘Shambala’ and ‘Nozstock’ where their attention to detail transformed spaces into the escapists dream.

The fantastic guys over at Kino 10 throw another intriguing Sunday short film night not to be missed! This time they are rolling with the ever more popular theme of East Asian short films, including an original live Narrative set to a silent film, as well as an improvised performance over classic silent Japanese anime by the musical ensemble Mute. To celebrate John Peel Day today we thought we’d do just what the great man himself was so good at and share some music. In memory of Peel’s unrivalled eclecticism and ear for an oddity, we’ve chosen four tracks that move from the hardcore to the heady to the just plain hard-to-imagine-what-they-were-thinking!
Now entering it’s 21st year, Hereford Photography Festival returns to the city this week. Featuring work from over 75 photographers across 40 exhibitions exploring the theme of Movement, this year’s event looks set to show just why it’s the nation’s longest running festival of it’s kind.
