Back in February Dub Bait’s Larsey pulled together a few choice cuts from the more sentimental side of his Dancehall collection for a neat little Valentines mix.

If we had to pick a particular DJ that really stands out as influencing the Dub Bait and Springstan family’s musical tastes throughout the early years, then this guy has to win hands-down! A big man in the game, Dub Boy (Tim Rayner) has always been a strong advocate and facilitator of Caribbean music and his relentless passion for promoting the various genres has played a major part in shaping young peoples love of the music in and around the west country.

I’ve finally got round to recording a new one sixty mix, and as the first two seemed to go down well with people I thought I’d share it on here first.
The fifth instalment in our mix series is brought to you by Devon’s own Footwork champion Marvin Vital. Storming through 36 tracks in an hour, Vital has delivered a ruffneck mix brimming with the energy and party spirit that make the Chicago-born genre so addictive.

If like us you’re always craving a top-draw Juke mix then Leatherface (aka Kaptain Cadillac)’s recent promo for We Buy Gold is a must have, with tons of fresh and unreleased Booty Call Records material from the likes of Traxman, DJ Earl, Umberto & DJ Phaze, DJ Phil, Manny and of course Leatherface himself.
DJ, Producer and Dub Bait contributor Brocksteady has been busy compiling a series of cracking Juke/Footwork mixes of late. The first of these ‘One Sixty‘ created a little while ago now, has been receiving plenty of positive attention and feedback around the web and on his Mixcloud page and he’s kindly decided to make it downloadable to the world, exclusively through Dub Bait.

Now here’s a little something guaranteed to get you in the mood for the weekend ahead. Already established as a force for quality and experimentation within the world of UK Funky, West London’s Greenmoney (Leo Greenslade – main man at London’s YoYo club, and Alex Phountzi – formerly of Bugz In The Attic) shine not only as label bosses, but also as DJ’s and producers in their own right. This mix – their recent contribution to the outstanding Mixpak FM series – is made up almost exclusively of forthcoming releases from Greenmoney Recordings, including all 3 tracks from their own awesome Dubs Vol.2 due out in December. So if you aren’t already familiar with the label (or even if you are!) this makes for essential listening.

It’s Carnival Day in the UK today and we need to get back to the party, so we’ll keep this very brief. We just thought it only right on the day the bass invades the streets to point you in the direction of some fresh carnival sounds – London’s mighty Heatwave have just (about 5 hours ago!) uploaded a great new mix, available to download or stream from their mixcloud.
Bristol’s finest Dub Boy returns to Hereford tonight accompanied by Central Spillz own MC Redskin. This will be the Carnival Bashment King’s third visit to Hereford and he always smashes it, so if you’re in the area tonight be sure to get down there!
DJ’s in support differ slightly from those advertised, due in part to Dub Bait’s own Larsey double-booking himself with a trip to Croatia, the fool!
